Sailing the Aeolian Islands šŸŒŠā›µļø Late summe Sailing the Aeolian Islands šŸŒŠā›µļø

Late summer is pure magic in the Aeolian Islands. With warm seas, steady winds, and golden sunsets, it’s the perfect season to sail between the volcanic treasures of Vulcano, Lipari, Salina, and Panarea. But the ultimate highlight is Stromboli, where one of the world’s most active volcanoes rises dramatically from the sea.

And while watching Stromboli’s eruptions from the deck is unforgettable, don’t miss the chance to hike up the volcano itself. Reaching the crater area at sunset and witnessing the mountain come alive is an experience you’ll never forget.

From crystal-clear anchorages to black volcanic cliffs, sailing the Aeolian Islands is Mediterranean adventure at its finest.

If you want to explore Bavaria, make sure to stop If you want to explore Bavaria, make sure to stop in Regensburg, one of Germany’s most beautiful and historic cities.

And while you’re there, do as the locals do: order ā€œSix on Krautā€.
This Bavarian classic consists of six small grilled sausages served on a generous portion of sauerkraut. The traditional place to enjoy it is the Historic Wurstkuchl, located directly on the Danube beside the famous Stone Bridge. This legendary restaurant is widely regarded as the oldest continuously operating sausage kitchen in the world.

But Regensburg offers far more than great food. Here are five highlights you shouldn’t miss:

šŸ“ St. Peter’s Cathedral
The city’s gothic landmark towers above the medieval skyline and is one of Bavaria’s most impressive churches.

šŸ“ The Stone Bridge (Steinerne Brücke)
Built in the 12th century, this engineering masterpiece once connected important European trade routes across the Danube.

šŸ“ Walhalla Memorial
Often called the ā€žGerman Parthenon,ā€œ this magnificent hall of fame overlooks the Danube a few kilometers east of the city. You can book a two-hour ship cruse an the Danube river to get there.

šŸ“ The Old Town (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
With more than a thousand protected historic buildings, Regensburg boasts one of the best-preserved medieval city centers in Europe.

šŸ“ Thurn und Taxis Palace
A stunning palace still owned by one of Europe’s most famous noble families and home to beautiful gardens and seasonal events.
If Athens has the original Parthenon, Bavaria deci If Athens has the original Parthenon, Bavaria decided it deserved its own version, complete with a spectacular view over the Danube.

Built between 1830 and 1842 by King Ludwig I of Bavaria, Walhalla was created as a hall of fame for outstanding German-speaking figures from history, science, art, and culture. Inspired by the rise of national identity in the early 19th century, Ludwig wanted a place to celebrate people who shaped the German-speaking world.

Architect Leo von Klenze took his inspiration directly from the famous Parthenon in Athens, giving Walhalla its striking Greek temple appearance. The only real difference? Instead of honoring the goddess Athena, this one is dedicated to poets, scientists, composers, and other remarkable people.

So yes, you could call it the German Parthenon... just with fewer ancient gods and a lot more Germans. šŸ›ļøšŸ˜„

Sailing the stunning Aeolian Sea is always an unfo Sailing the stunning Aeolian Sea is always an unforgettable adventure. Just a few nautical miles from Marina Portorosa, the beautiful Lipari and Vulcano Islands rise from the deep blue waters, each with its own unique character.

Vulcano is famous for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, steaming fumaroles, and black sand beaches, while Lipari charms visitors with its picturesque harbor, historic old town, and breathtaking coastal views. Together, they create one of the most fascinating island destinations in the Mediterranean.

September is the perfect time to reach these islands by sailing yacht, with warm temperatures and generally favorable conditions. But the sea always keeps a surprise in store: local storms and thunderstorms can suddenly appear along the way, turning a pleasant passage into an exciting sailing experience and a reminder of nature’s power.

Every mile sailed here is rewarded with spectacular scenery, crystal-clear water, and the unique atmosphere of the Aeolian Islands.
